Does decaffeinated Green Tea have the same health benefits as regular Green Tea?

…? 🙂 Is there a difference besides the caffiene or does it hold the same health benefits as regular Green tea? WHO OUT THERE KNOWS?!

Let me first say something as fast as possible about decaf coffee. If you go to a health food store, you will see the best kind of natural decaf coffee—Swiss water decaf. Grocery store decaf uses chemicals, methylene chloride or ethyl acetate, to decaf the coffee. It is similar with tea.

To get maximum health benefits of green tea, you want to use the best way to decaf the tea. That can be done at home! See the links below. It will take a llittle patience to wade thru the crap and get down to the bottom of the Wikipedia page to find out about decaf green teas. If this is too complicated, buy some decaf SpecialTeas, which is good but uses a less pure decaf method. There is not too much caffeine in green tea. So you might want to drink some, just not at night. Be well. Green tea heals!

What are the Health Benefits of Green Tea?

Can drinking green tea help you to lose weight? My mother says it can. Any advice on green tea and the health benefits would be great!

There definitely is a lot of science behing green tea and its effect on weight loss. As it turns out, it is the presence of Catechins in green tea that are responsible for blocking fat absorption and buring calories  This is the key to how green tea benefits weight loss. Catechins account for 30% of green tea, and they have been clinically shown to help with weight loss.  They decrease the absorption of fat and increase thermogensis.  It is estimated that drinking green tea helps the average person burn about an additional 80 calories a day. That may not sound like much but in conjunction with a decent diet and regular exercise those calories will add up to pounds lost!

Here are just a few more common medical conditions in which drinking green tea is reputed to be helpful: -Cancer -Rheumatoid rthritis -High Cholesterol Levels -Cardiovascular Disease -Infection -Impaired Immune Function and many more.

The secret of green tea lies in the fact that  it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).  EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: aside from inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter takes on added importance when you consider that thrombosis (the formation of abnormal blood clots) is the leading cause of heart attacks and stroke. EGCG is also found in green tea extract supplements used in weight loss.

Green tea can even help prevent tooth decay! Just as its bacteria-destroying abilities can help prevent food poisoning, it can also kill the bacteria that causes dental plaque.  Green tea may also have skin healing properties in cases of sun damage.  The only possible negative side effect reported from drinking green tea is insomnia due to the fact that it contains caffeine. However, green tea contains less caffeine than coffee and if consumed in the earlier part of the day should have no effect upon sleep.  There are also decaf green tea varieties available for anyone with caffeine sensitivity.
